Verve was a project I worked on in collaboration with Emerson technologies. The project goal was to design a "Smart" ceiling fan that could either be integrated into an old or modern home. Ceiling fans are a prime location for many smart home technologies because of their raised and center location in a room.
Verve features three foam blades, a child monitor/security camera, and a bluetooth speaker ring. The foam blades were inspired by the foam used in Nerf products. These foam coated blades were developed after my research findings showed a trend of kids either hurting hands or hitting heads on fan blades while playing on their beds. This fan was designed to accommodate children from a very young age up to young adulthood.
